With all the hype about social media, one consistent question entrepreneurs have been asking is “How can I use social media marketing to get more customers?”  Entrepreneurs don’t have much time to waste on social media if it does not add to the bottom line of their business growth. Why spend 3 hours chatting on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin if it does not contribute in any way to your business revenue?

Social media gives small businesses the opportunity to compete with bigger firms. With a proper social media marketing plan, you can dominate your market and become a thought leader in your industry. Let’s x-ray how you can use social media to get more customers.

If you intend to market your business services and products through social media, you need to setup your business social media pages. Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Instagram are the most popular social media networks in the world now and you need to setup your company pages in those platforms in order to start posting content that resonate with your audience. You can also market your products and services through your personal social media platforms if you already have a large following on your profile. It’s always advisable to separate your personal profile from your business profile.

2) Post Valuable Content

The internet especially social media is powered by content. Majority of people go online for content. It could be educational, informational, product and Service content. Though some also go online for gossip content (Gossip is a big business online 🙂 ). Whatever reasons though, the internet is powered by content. It’s your responsibility to post high valuable content on social media because that helps you build credibility with your target audience. By offering your followers useful content that helps them, it will become easier to sell to them because you have already offered them value upfront. Content range from Articles, Videos, Podcast, Case Studies, Presentation, Infographics, Webinars and so forth. If you can’t produce the content yourself, you can outsource them through Fiverr and Upwork freelancing sites. Content marketing will help you make more sales than you think of in the long term. Start producing content starting today.

3) Provide Value on Social Media Conversation

There are Facebook and Linkedin Groups you can join and start a conversation. You also need to ensure you are providing enormous value on group discussion while you can also occasionally promote your products and services in these groups. On Linkedin and Facebook, I belong to groups with hundreds of thousands of members. Just imagine the reach of the content you post on groups. You can also join Twitter chats and contribute. All these conversations lead to brand awareness and visibility for your business and services.

4) Have a Youtube Channels and Share Valuable Video

I would not recommend Linkedin advertising if you are a starter. It is too expensive in my personal view. Linkedin has a standard $2 per click for ads while with Facebook, Twitter and Youtube ads; you can get $0.05 (5 cents) per click. I have gotten a better result with Facebook and Twitter advertising. You can start with those two social networks as well. Don’t ignore Instagram ads.

Loads of businesses are using social media to attract more sales on a daily basis. Social media marketing is not a complicated process if you follow the steps I have listed above. You to too can start using social media marketing to grow your business starting today.
